Senior Managers make RE Cares a priority at Management Conference

On 14 May during the Reed Elsevier Senior Management Conference in Charleston, South Carolina, nearly 200 senior managers, including CEO Sir Crispin Davis, helped make a difference to local young people on behalf of the Boys & Girls Club of the Trident Area.

At the Club’s Robert Gould Shaw Unit, volunteers painted the outside of the building, making it bright and welcoming, while a group assembled bicycles for the children, and another rejuvenated the garden transforming it into an inviting play area.

Volunteers at Fraser Elementary School read to students, shared information about their countries in a cultural workshop, and built benches for the playground.

Reed Elsevier contributed $5000 each to the Robert Gould Shaw Unit and the Fraser Elementary School. In addition, participants have decided to make personal donations to ensure that all the Club’s children have a bicycle.

As CEO Crispin Davis noted, the afternoon shows the importance of the RE Cares programme in supporting communities and maximising the potential of ‘one company.’

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Trident Area provides after school and summer programming to youth between the ages of 6 and 18. The Club’s mission is to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The Club is part of a nationwide affiliation of local, autonomous organizations that work to help young people develop the qualities they need to become responsible citizens and leaders. www.bgclubta.org
