Senior managers of Reed Elsevier threw their weight behind our annual RE Cares community programme last year, when they took an afternoon out from the 2007 Global Management Conference in Rome to volunteer on local projects helping young children.
Seventy senior managers joined the volunteering project in Rome. They took part in a range of programmes set up to help disadvantaged children in the Italian Capital.
We teamed up with some important local charities for the event, including Nessun Luogo e Lontano Onlus and the Centro Nazionale Opere Salesian.
Together we worked on five separate projects ranging from a kids vs bosses football game (the kids won), to mural painting, handicrafts, outdoor educational games and a role play activity where boys learning to be mechanics could improve their English skills and confidence.
Reflecting on the events, Toni Linstedt, Elsevier’s Senior Vice-President of Sales, said the afternoon had “raised awareness that RE Cares is a corporate responsibility.”
